The Rail again Kiddies!  This time in February with some bands we're told are pretty good :)

Check out the SHOWS page for more infolicious stuff.

The new CD (Running Out of Ramones) is being sent off for mastering next week!  I expect it to be completed by sometime in March!  This will make it just in time for us to have to take a break due to the impending birth of my son!  You will of course be able to buy it on Interpunk, and at Vintage Vinyl and Curmudgeon music.

or directly from us even.

10/25/05

I ought to update this as much as the MySpace page!  Anyway we’re playing Saturday at the Charleson with a bunch of great bands.  Each band is appearing as another, more popular band.  F’rinstance we’re doing the Ramones.  8pm for us sharp.  There are nights for showing up late, this ain’t one of them.

Album news forthcoming.

06/10/05
Look what got fixed!

06/08/05
Sorry for the crummy amount of updates, but I had a lot of personal shit I had to deal with.  It's not 100% done, but I sure am coping 100% better I'll tell you that.  We have a show coming up next Saturday in Clifton at Connections.  It's us, Flatus and Anger.  COME ON OUT!  It's Ted's Burfday Bash.  I hear he really wants GROVER KENT T SHIRTS, and copies of our Split CD with the LawnDarts which we will have for sale at the show!  Coincidence?  You decide!

Anyway it's 18 and up, and Eight dollars to get in.

Ok, in other news, we're still working on new stuff.

Come see us and we'll give you a pin

I'm going to try and fix these South Park Pictures tonight...

Rich

05/20/05

Well shoot…One part of the news is the South Park pics I did of Matt and Dan didn’t seem to take.  Hrm…  Ah well I can fix that later…

What else:

Show News
Hey, we’re playing a free all ages show Sunday May 22nd at the Oak Room of the Berkeley Carteret

Hotel in Asbury Park.  Show time is 7 PM.  Mazeffect and two other bands are also playing.  This is open to the public.  Come on down, it’s going to be awesome.

It’s an after party for Lazlo of Blowupradio.com.  See, he’s getting hitched that day and wanted to have some bands play.  Figuring we’d freak out the regular wedding folk (and that between us and Mazeffect there wouldn’t be enough little hot dogs) he’s having this awesome show!  Three cheers for Lazlo and Naomi!

Release News

In related news, Grover Kent has a BRAND NEW song on the latest Blowupradio.com sampler CD!  Recorded live at the Loop Lounge in Passaic, “I Think She Used to Be a Man” is significant for being the first release featuring Matt, and the last release featuring Jason.

More info is available here http://blowupradio.tripod.com/livecd.html

Misc.

I have been plowing through all of the Grover Kent live recordings that we have made over the years.  There’s some good stuff on some of them, so I was thinking of putting some of it up on Soundclick or something.  I dunno, I’ll keep you posted.

Oh, we finally got new buttons.  Come get some, and while you're at it, buy a T-shirt, and both CDs!

03/08/05

A few things.

First off, it brings me great sadness to announce the departure of Jason, our bass player.  Jay and I basically started this little endeavor together in 1999.  We’ve been through a lot together in these past 5 years and change.  You could cite “musical differences” or “scheduling conflicts” and you wouldn’t be wrong.  Let’s just say “real life” and that should cover it.  We wish him nothing but the best and good luck in his new career in Adult Film.  Look for him under the name “Dick Studley.”

He’s so going to punch me for that.

As a band, we are regrouping and working on new material.  We have a great album in us and we’re going to do our best to record it for you.  Then you’d better do your best to buy the f**king thing, OK?

Stepping into Jason’s shoes is a gent named Dan.  You may recognize him as the guy with the tie who played bass for us at the Court Tavern some time back.  You may also know him from his drum work in Mazeffect.  Come and say howdy next time we’re assaulting innocent ears

Now, that brings our Mazeffect content to 50% (65% of the USDA minimum I think…)and lowers the Slappy Factor by one.  For those of you keeping track, we had a previous Mazeffect content of 33% and a Slappy Factor of two.  With the addition of Matt we had a Slappy Factor of three, albeit only temporarily.  This could also account for Jason’s departure as it is a well known and established fact that bands containing high Slappy Factors are notoriously unstable.  (How does this affect Mazeffect, you ask?  They only have a Slappy Factor of 2, but since they are a trio, percent wise it’s 66% or thereabouts.  This is normally enough to cause instability or, at worst,  onstage immolation ala Spinal Tap.  However there are mitigating factors to be taken into account like the Melvis Effect, the Ingstrup Principle and the little known Siano Factor.  Because of all of these forces constantly pulling and pushing in numerous directions, scientists are looking into harnessing these energies in order to power a small section of South Amboy, NJ.  They tried this with the ERGS, but it was determined that the power would only stay on for 15 seconds to a minute at a time.)

I realize that about 3 people will find the above amusing,  and maybe 3 others will be in stitches and the rest of you are thinking I’m off my meds.  No biggie.

Anyway, Mazeffect isn’t slowing down at all, they are actually releasing a new CD any minute now.  Go see them Saturday at Uncle Joe’s in Jersey City.

We’re going to re-record the Running EP soon.  I hope it will be out by the summer.  We’re also furiously assembling crap, erm, I mean material, for the ERGS project and the next full length.

That’s all for now.  See you soon…

Rich

12/29/04

Wow.
Another year come and gone!  What did we manage to accomplish this time, in our most recent orbit around the sun?

Managed to get the damn Lawndarts split out FINALLY!

Wrote some new songs.  Even recorded some of them as demos.

Recruited a new geetar player, Matt, whom I have neglected to put up on the site.  Unless he’s there now, in which case I already fixed this…

FINALLY played the following places:
The Loop Lounge
Maxwell’s
Connections (Again after a long time!)
Court Tavern
Indigo (For a brandy new unplugged set!)

Well, Rich, that's pretty good, but what's next?

Grover New Year's Resolutions are as follows:

  1. Take some band photos to show a relevant line up.
  2. Write our half of the split with the ERGS.
  3. Write the rest of our second full length album
  4. Play some all ages shows (if they still exist)
  5. Find a replacement venue for our beloved Broadway Central Café
  6. Get the whole band ponies.

That’s all.  Have a good new year and we’ll see you in ‘05!

Rich

11/01/04

10/14/04
Wow!  Already with another update?  Yeah, just thought you'd like to know the PayPal button for the new CD is fixed.  You may order away!  Many of you have not taken advantage of the fact that you can now have quality Grover Kent merch shipped right to you!  I realize you want to buy it all from us because we're so handsome, but think of the convinience!  Don't forget, the holidays are coming up GK shirts and CDs make great gifts!

10/11/04

MORE SHOWS COMING SOON!

Grover Kent are currently scheduled for the following places near you in the coming months:

ABERDEEN, NJ (CONFIRMED!)

ASBURY PARK, NJ

BROOKLYN, NY (CONFIRMED!)

GROVER KENT IN THE STUDIO:
Yeah, this basically means we went into Middle Room and banged out some new demos just to hear what the new stuff sounded like.  We’ll be going in to re-record “Running out of Ramones” since it had to be re-worked for Johnny, and a new version of “I’ll Love You 167 Hours a Week.”  Then and only then will we put out the “Running out of Ramones” single.

We’re furiously toiling on new stuff for our next record and that insane project with the ERGS I keep blabbing about.  You can hear some of the new stuff we’re doing next Friday, so get your butts out to the club!

8/26/04
OK, So no updates for a while...Sorry.  Real life getting in the way again!
The LOOP show has been MOVED and will be FRIDAY OCTOBER 15TH!
10 PM
Us, LawnDarts and Mazeffect

UPCOMING STUFF:
well, I've been noodling around with the show we played at Maxwells and can probably salvage about half of it.  What  are we going to do with it?  Not sure, actually, but hey it's there if we need it.  Maybe we'll post it on soundclick or something
We'll be playing an acoustic show at Indigo Coffee House in Aberdeen in December with some other bands, and maybe a big fest in PA in October...I'll keep ya posted

Oh yeah, a new GK Email will be unveiled probably monday!

7/23/04

Well, what’s new you ask?  Other than I have been sick with a nasty virus since about the 1st of July, the new Split CD with the Lawndarts is NIGH!  NIGH I TELL YOU!

Also we are working on some new songs for you.  Some of which will be played at our show AUGUST 20th at the LOOP LOUNGE in Passaic NJ!  We’re playing with the Lawndarts and it should be our CD release party barring any replication hassles.

So, you ask, about these new songs…How about some titles?  Ok, how’s this for titles:

Old Man Conroy
You Are Freaking Me Out
Everybody Went Whoa!
Excuse me, Holmes
I Think She Used to Be a Man

The next batch we’re working on should include
Leopold (an old Slappy song, in case you think it sounds familiar)
Houston, We Have a Problem
Hand Over Your Heart
And re-records of
Running Out of Ramones and I’ll Love you 167 Hours a Week

The basic premise is, aside from needing songs for the ERGS split and our next album, I’d like to have a set that consists of about 40% new material by the end of the summer.  While that may not be completely possible,  I think we can get close…

Well, That's all for now.  See ya on the 20th!

5/25/04

SAD NEWS FOR THE MUSIC FAN...

Curmudgeon Music in Edison is CLOSING!  Yeah, after 10 years, they are consolidating with the Hillsboro location.  This means you cannot get the Grover Kent album at the Edison location any more.  I went by today and grabbed up our remaing stock of a whopping 4 CDs.  In memorium we're having a SPECIAL SALE!

THE NEXT 4 PEOPLE WHO BUY AN ALBUM WILL GET IT FOR THE RETAIL PRICE OF WHAT THEY WOULD HAVE PAID AT CURMUDGEON.  THAT'S RIGHT!  FIVE AMERICAN DOLLARS!  THAT INCLUDES SHIPPING!  HELL, I'LL  EVEN EXTEND THAT TO INTERNATIONAL ORDERS!  WHY ARE WE DOING THIS????

  1. Well, with the store closing 4 people were robbed of the opportunity to get the CD at that price
  2. They have 5 dollar price stickers on them, and I'm too lazy to peel 'em off
TO GET THIS SPECIAL DEAL, YOU MUST SEND US AN EMAIL REQUESTING IT!  IF YOU ORDER FROM THE SWAG PAGE, YOU WILL PAY THE NORMAL PRICE!  EMAIL US at groverkent AT hotmail.com
WE WILL GIVE YOU INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE PAYMENT!
AGAIN, THIS IS LIMITED TO THE NEXT FOUR ORDERS ONLY, so act fast!

The Sampler is delayed until I can make my comptuer not suck anymore!

T-Shirt pic and Aquarian review are now up.  Hoo-ray!

Lawndarts split will be out Mid-June!  Artwork is almost done, and the CDs will be going out REALLY soon (next couplea days) to the replicator!

4/29/04
We’re putting together a new sampler for you kids.  It’s gonna have a track from our new CD on it, and a track from our old cd, plus some previously unreleased or rare junk on it.  OH!  The version of Crissie V on Soundclick that we have up is the full studio version!  I thought we had the demo up, but lookee, I was mistaken.

ATTENTION ALL YOU COMPLETISTS:

Lazlo from blowupradio.com is having his burfday celebration tomorrow at the Court Tavern in New Brunswick.  There’s some good bands playing, and he’s giving out a free cd comp with an unreleased Grover Kent song on it.  It’s coming off our split with the LawnDarts (due out at the end of May!) and it’s called “Hey Kate.”  The Kate in question is Kate Botello formerly of the Screen Savers on Tech TV.  To tell you, she was actually still on the show when I wrote this (as was partner Leo Laporte who is also mentioned in the song), but, as you know, it takes us entirely too long to release something, so it becomes a nostalgia tune.  Sheesh.  Anyhoo- This CD is limited to 100 copies, so get to the show and get your copy TODAY!

By Monday night, the t-shirt pic and the review from the Aquarian should be up.  I forgot to send the shirt pic to where I update the page from, and I can’t find the review to re-type but I think it’s in the spare bedroom…One day, I swear I will get organized!

We’ll be playing more shows come summer, hopefully some fine all ages bashes as well.  Remember, you set up a gig, and we’ll come rock.  Thanks!

Rich

4/20/04
OK, so the shirts are in the SWAG section!  Quit yer complaining!  Adding them was no picnic!  I had to rebuild the entire PAYPAL shopping cart!

I didn't get a bloomin onion.  That's OK though, because I'd like to make it past 40.

Rich

4/19/04
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, AND CHILDREN OF ALL AGES:

Unlike the ERGS, we have no pretty models to announce that official GROVER KENT t-shirts have arrived!  That means you can stop buying them from unscrupulous vendors outside of the show!  They’re not in the SWAG section just yet, because I forgot how to make the shopping cart button for them.  Drop me an email and I’ll get you the PAYPAL info if you want one!  The shirt is our snazzy logo (as seen on the front page of this very website!) hand-screened in black on a natural, unbleached/dyed Jerzees 100% cotton t-shirt!  Sizes as follows: s,m,l,xl.  Shirts are $6 post paid in the US, $7 elsewhere.
Picture to come…

ALSO:
We have a song coming out on a birthday comp CD for Lazlo from BLOWUPRADIO.COM.  How do you get this CD you ask?  Well, it's FREE if you attend his bithday bash at the Court Tavern Saturday May 1st.  It'll be limited to about 100 copies, and will contain all local bands.  Our song is one of two he liked, and I dunno what he picked yet.  It will be an unreleased track though.  It may be a completely unreleased track, OR something from our forthcoming split with the LawnDarts.  Oh, speaking of which...

NEW CD NEWS:
Yeah, buddy!  I got a great pic for the cover, and all the info from Jeff. I'll have our cover dude get right on it.  After that, the release!!!!

In unrelated news, I really want a Bloomin' Onion (tm).

Rich

4/14/04
Ok, aside from the fact that singing at Melissa's gradjeeashun party/show caused me to get larangytis, it was a great show.  Awesome show.  Thanks for having us play.  NOW GO GET A JOB ALREADY YOU FREELOADER!  tee hee!

GOOD GRIEF!
GROVER KENT LOGO T-SHIRTS ARRIVING THIS WEEKEND!
They will be BLACK INK in a NATURAL shirt
Sizes are S, M, L, XL
Pricing to be determined.
(look they'll be around 6 bucks)

New review from AMP in the reviews section.
Aquarian review will be in soon, I promise!
Rich

3/22/04
OK, how much fun was that Court show?
Here's my reasons for liking it:
Thanks to Damian of Burning Up White, and Lazlo of Blowupradio.com for hooking us up.

03/15/04
I know, the review isn’t up yet.  Hectic weekend and it’s a long review! However we have a LAST MINUTE SHOW coming up.  THIS FRIDAY at the Court Tavern in New Brunswick!  We’re going on LAST.  It’s Lump n Loaf records night in case you were wondering.  We’re not technically on the label, but that’s ok.
Hope you can make it out!

Rich

03/12/04
OK, we’ve hit a minor snag on the cover for the Lawndarts split.  So, I’m having Jeff send me the ‘Darts stuff and a friend of mine is going to do it.  But it’s coming very, very soon.

We have a great ALL AGES SHOW coming up.  It’s at the Old Bridge First Aid squad on route 34.  We’re playing with the ERGS, Steinways, Kohuff, Tonight We Dance, and the Steinways.  ALL AGES, eight o clock pm!

New review up in reviews!  This time a good one!  YAY!  BTW if it’s not up now, it’ll be up by Monday 3/15/04.  I gotta transcribe it from the paper.

-Rich

02/12/04
SHOW NEWS

As you all hopefully know by now, we’re playing with the BEATNIK TERMITES at the Broadway Central Café in S. Amboy NJ.  It’s full-on the best lineup we have ever played with, each band being really, really good!  Other bands are The Unlovables, the Ergs, and the Steinways.  What a lineup eh?  Doors open at 9 and since we have 5 bands, the first band starts PROMPTLY AT 9:30!  I mean it!  Do not add half an hour for “Rock and Roll time” as is usual with live shows.  It’s 18 & up and $5.

ALBUM NEWS:
Well, it’s out, and you can buy it!  Me, Myself & Your Mother is available from Vintage Vinyl, Curmudgeon, Let It Rock, Interpunk.com, and directly from our website as well for $5 plus $2 shipping and handling.  We'll take your evil capitalist plastic via paypal too : )
You could wait until the above show to buy it, but why would you?  Buy early and then come to the show and sing along!

LAWNDARTS SPLIT NEWS:
The ‘Darts stuff is mastered(FINALLY!), and the cover is being worked on.  The CDs are going to the plant within the next two weeks or so, so this much anticipated follow-up to our album and the Lawndarts’ own Volume II album will be out really soon.  It's called Selling Doors, Door to Door and it's an initial edition of just 200 copies and contains 8 unreleased songs, 4 from each band!  Snap it up as soon as it’s available, because who knows how long it will last!  OH, we have a track from the CD up on Soundclick.  Now, I don't remember if it's the demo version, or the version that's gonna be on the CD.  I have no speakers at work, and my PC at home is doing the flaky dance, so I can't tell you one way or the other.
Ah, whatever!  It's here.

EP NEWS:
The Running Out of Ramones EP will be delayed while we re-record some of the tracks.  We’ve come to the decision that we can do them better, and wanted to change some arrangements and whatnot.  We’re planning on doing this soon, don’t worry.

OTHER NEWS:
Well, we’re going to start new material for a couple of things.  One is a project with the Ergs, the other is despite the fact that our album came out just a scant 3 months ago, a lot of those songs are positively ancient, and let’s face it, unless we’re trying to become the Dickies, we really ought to get cracking.  At least that will give the illusion that we are prolific.  What I’m trying to say is, we have a lot of ideas in the hat for our second album, and if all goes as planned, we’d like to have it out this year, but since the last one took so long, who knows?

WE WILL NOW TAKE YOUR PLASTIC FOR OUR PLASTIC!

Yes, it's true:
We currently accept PAYPAL!
You asked and asked and begged and pleaded (frankly it was embarrasing), but we'll let you contribute to your credit card debt by buying our junk through PAYPAL.  See the SWAG section for a fine selection (ok, TWO items, but hey, it's a start) ofstuff to buy.
If you don't wanna buy it from us, you can go to:
Curmudgeon in Edison and Hillsborough
Vintage Vinyl in Fords NJ
Let It Rock in Montclair
or
www.interpunk.com

The album is selling steadily, and we should be getting some reviews back soon.  Of course I'll post them as soon as I get them!

Some shows to come, a lot is pending right now.

Split with the Lawndarts is closer than you think....

Ooooooooo!  ooooo!  I forgot, We have some newish stuff up on www.soundclick.com

BUY A CD ALREADY!

ALBUM NEWS:
Yes, the rumors are true!  Me, Myself & Your Mother has finally been released!  12 tracks of pop punk goodness!  You can order it from us via mail, or from Interpunk if you wish to use a credit card, or you wanna buy our cd where you get your Bad Religion stuff.  You can also pick it up at Curmudgeon in Edison and Hillsborough, and Vintage Vinyl in Fords NJ.  I’ll have them in Let It Rock in Montclair by the end of the month, and other stores as needed.

It’s 5 dollars at the stores or from us at shows.  As of right now, we don’t have PAYPAL set up, but I’m looking into setting it up as soon as possible.

SPLIT NEWS!
Well, hopefully the mastering can be completed this week on the Lawndarts tunes for their half of the magnificent forthcoming split CD, Selling Doors, Door to Door.  4 songs from each band, 3 originals and a cover.  It’ll be in a snazzy slimline case in a limited pressing of 200.  The ‘Darts stuff is from their forthcoming CD and ours is stuff we recorded for the Mutant Pop short run that never was to be.

More news:
I have submitted the four Lawndarts tracks that I mastered for our split to Jeff Lawndart for his approval.  Pending any changes, our split should be available for your holiday shopping needs.  It is currently titled “Selling Doors, Door to Door” and will include 4 tracks (3 originals and 1 cover) by each band.  Check our website for further details.

Our CDEP “Running Out Of Ramones” will also hopefully be ready to give to your signifigant punk rock lovin’ other by the holidays as well.  Just a little preview, it’s gonna be 4 songs, and we recorded it at the House that Slappy built (i.e. Middle Room studios in S. Amboy) a little earlier this year.  It’s just a fun little thing that allowed us to try some different things stylistically.  Oh don’t worry, we’re not a ska band or anything like that, but we took the opportunity to apply the rule: If you have an idea, try it out.  With the addition of some guest musicians and our anything goes theory we have made a record that takes the GK sound and expands it a bit, without  neutering it.

Shows:
We’ve been (more than) a little inactive lately, only coming out of hibernation to play an acoustic set in June and do a set (with Mazeffect drummer Dan standing in for the stuck-at-work Jason O on the four string death machine, um I mean bass) and eat our collective weight in picnic food at NJ scenester Scruff’s annual Masturbating Bear-b-que in Lawrence Harbor NJ with the Ergs, One True Substance, the Tattletales (now called, I believe, Little Triggers), and Mazeffect (who basically did an additional set of the best of Black Flag with Mikey & Jeff Erg.  Truly, if you missed it, you really missed something).

6/13/03

Holy crap, we're playing a show!  Please check out the shows page for more details.  It's just me and Jason as Jay will be away that night.  So, yes, that means an acoustic show!  Holeeeeeee cow.  yeah, we figured we'd give it a go and see if we don't suck : )

We found a new place to get the CDs done, now we need to get the $$$ to press them.  Also I should be getting the tracks from the LawnDarts for our split CDEP entitled "Selling Doors, Door to Door."  Oddly enough our follow up EP may actually be out before the album.  Go figure.

The Running Out of Ramones ep is done, and just needs to be mastered.  It may be out by the end of the summer but don't hold yer breath.

We got hosed Tommy.

Today I really thought about calling it quits.  Really.  Wanna know the quote that solidified my decision to keep going and persevere?
Alex F-Word on the Pop-Punk Board said:
"That sucks ass about your money dude, but don't let some fucker steal your band too. "

Damn straight.

Album news coming...

DID YOU PAY YOUR TAXES?  IF NOT YOU HAVE LIKE 6 HOURS TO GET TO THE POST OR FILE AN ONLINE EXTENTION!!!  FOR GOD’S SAKE, MOVE!!!!

We now return to your regularly scheduled load of nonsense…

Because Matt asked, and because it’s been about three hundred years since I thought of it, and because we never officially announced them, here’s the tracks that will be on the CD!

And yes, I had to look it up! I got to “Suede” and went, “Um, crap, what songs actually are on this album?”  I usually remember the names, not the order.  I probably would have been OK if I hadn’t been listening to the new stuff overanalyzing my vocals all day.  Well, anyhoo, without further adoo, the track listings for Me, Myself, & Your Mother
1. PussyKat
2. Suddenly, Summer
3. Girl Trouble
4. Suede
5. Kentucky Waterfall
6. You Broke It, You Bought It
7. Jimmy’s Little Blue Hatchback
8. Irritating Girl
9. Hockey & Food
10. Caroline
11. I Sold My Brain To Science
12. Can’t Believe It’s True

So, there you go.

We’ll let you know when it’s out and where you can get it besides from us, that is.
All the songs on MP3.com are from the album as of right now.  I'm looking into some new hosting possibilities for the site so that we'll be able to actually have all out MP3s here in house and not have to pay stupid MP3.com their vig.

Well, that's about that.
Later, gators!

I did the vocals yesterday for the 6 tunes we did at Middle Room Studios.  OK, since one of the tunes is an instrumental so I didn’t do any vocals for that one, you caught me.  I’m listening to the raw mixes now.  There’s a little bit here and a little bit there that need tweaking, but it’s pretty good.  Now our lazy lump of a bass player needs to come in and do his bits.  However, that won’t be till next week due to Easter.

As an aside, remember when I said that the stuff was cherried up some?  Well, that was courtesy of Melvis Effin Chrome playing a little guitar and, on the instrumental, Mazeffect drummer Dan playing organ!  I heard it and felt like Dee Dee Ramone finally hearing End Of The Century (wow!  Am I in there too?).  Mel said, “Congratulations Jay!  We have made it so you need a seven piece band to perform this song live.”  Granted the live version would be a little less pretty, but hey, even some of those supermodels are not so pretty without make up (keep telling yourself that, Rich) so there ya go.  What the hell am I talking about?  Ah well, whatever.

There you have it.  The album should be in our grubby mitts very, very soon.  Shortly after that you can pay us money and they'll be in your grubby mitts...

So, what's with that freak storm yesterday?!?!  Mental, right?  Four inches of SNOW!?!?
Well, we've been practicing and as soon as the album comes in we'll be playing some shows.  The cover is FINISHED.  As soon as I get it in my mailbox it will go to the manufacturer and We should have the CDs two weeks or so after that.

We also started recording some at Jay Slappy's place.  If the material come out as good as we would like, we'll put some out. Time will tell...
I just spoke to Jay and he said the "cherried up the stuff nicely" on what we have recorded, so I can't wait to hear it.  We need to still record bass and vocals.

We had our first practice on Saturday since October.  It was a blast.  I can't wait until we can get in front of you folks again and abuse you with our silly, silly songs.

The samplers, by the way, have come and gone as far as them being at stores.  Oh well, no biggie, since the CD is on it's way.  Yes kids, we really mean it this time.  We'll have our announcement really soon.
Rich

Well, I was hoping to have the samplers at Vintage and the 2 Curmudgeons tomorrow (just in time for Valentine’s Day!) but, alas, ‘tis not to be!  The Rich-mobile took a dump yesterday, and who the hell knows when it’s gonna get fixed.  The mechanic has yet to call, and the later it gets the longer I hear the register bells!  Yeesh…

If all goes well, I will get them to stores by Monday, and since I have Monday off, that may just happen.  Keep it here (no, not over there, someone’s gonna knock it over if you leave it there.  Keep it here.  There ya go!) for all the news pertaining to the wonderful world of GK.

Over and Out…
Rich

Yeah, the cover duties have been handed off to my brother in law, so he said a few days and he should be done.

There was a bit of a family crisis so I couldn’t get the samplers finished.  Sorry.  They should be in stores by 2/17/03.

That’s all.  See ya soon

Oh, wait, no it’s not. I’d just like to say George Lucas can go to hell for choosing not to release the original theatrical versions of Star Wars, Empire and Jedi on DVD.  As far as he’s concerned the “Special editions” are the originals.  Screw you, George.  You seem to be driven by the dollar, milking the fans for all their worth, but you refuse to see that we want the originals!  There are TONS of bootlegs out, so we OBVIOUSLY want them right?  Why not put out a super limited set, charge us some stupid exorbinant amount of cash and be done with it?  Oh well.  I guess I should let it go, being a big fan of WIDESCREEN and my theory that if the artist wanted it widescreen you should watch it that way at home and too bad if you want your TV screen filled.  Therefore George can put out what he wants, he sure can.  I won’t buy it though, no way.  I’m just about done with Star Wars, Eps I & II started it all and this may just put the last nail in the coffin for me.

End of rant… I’ll see you all in the funny papers

Okee dokee.  New business:

1) ALBUM UPDATE:  Apparently, there was some trouble with some of the photos we planned on using on the cover.  Working on a minor redesign ideer now : )

2) Wanna play drums for Grover Kent?  Of course you do.  Drop us a line.  Seriously.

3) the Four Songs We Think You'll Like CDR will be available at the following record stores after  Feb 3rd for FREE while supplies last (BECAUSE WE'RE NOT MADE OF MONEY):

Vintage Vinyl, Fords NJ
Curmudgeon Records, Edison and Hillsborough
Let It Rock, Montclair NJ
(they already had some, and might still)

4) We got a swell one line mention in a review of the 4 band comp 7".  Check it out in our Reviews Section.

5) MP3.com is changing their policy this FRIDAY (1/31) so if you don't have our MP3s that are there you have a little less than 3 days to get them.  after that we will be rotating three songs

And yeah, soon we'll play an album release and everything.  Honest.

in the meantime, book a hall show, and get us to play.  We'll bring balloons : )

Well, we hope you had a real good holiday, whatever it is you celebrate.  We're still waiting on the cover final.  Between sickness and computer problems and just plain bad luck, it's still not done.  However, never fear!  We plan to kick the GK machine into high gear come the CD release party.  We'll let you know when that is as soon as we do.  We didn't play a hell of a lot last year and I hope to rectify that this year.

There's a lot on the drawing board this year, and if we can get it all done, you will, quite possibly, be sick of us.  The full length, followed by an EP for starters!

IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD THE STUFF IN "SOUNDS" YET, GET CRACKING!  AS OF JAN 15th, MP3.COM IS ONLY ALLOWING 3 TUNES UP FOR FREE, THE BASTARDS!  SO, UNTIL WE DECIDE IF WE WANNA SHELL OUT DOUGH, THERE'S ONLY GONNA BE THREE TUNES AT A TIME.  SO, WE'LL BE ROTATING THEM AROUND.

In other news, we really need a permanent drummer.  Jay has been a great help but he can't keep up the two band pace forever.  So, if you or a friend want to play for us drop me an email.

That's all for now.  Brace yourselves, because we're coming out swinging!

Hot DAMN!  We got the cover back and it looks pretty good.  Minor tweaking to be done this coming week, then off to the manufacturer.  Remember how we said it was going to be CDRs in cardboard sleeves?

Well, we changed our minds!  You will be getting Jewel Cases and it’s be shrinkwrapped and It’ll look a boatload better than we thought!  Still limited, but we hope to have the first batch here in time for X-Mas!

We’ll keep you posted.

Rich

You may have noticed we have no shows scheduled right now.  That is because we are on a temporary hiatus.  Why, well due to scheduling conflicts mostly.  Jason has the fullest schedule I have ever seen, and so he’s taking a little break.  No, he has not quit, nor does he plan to.  What does this mean for you?  Probably not much, because we haven’t been playing all that much in the first place this year due to erratic schedules and the departure of or old drummer.  We’re still working towards releasing our album, but as the coffers are empty, the progress is slow.  Since this project is being funded by 2 people (me and Jason for those paying attention) progress remains slow.

As far as shows go, if asked we’ll find a way to play, but we probably won’t be back in full action until December.  If that changes we’ll post it here.

As you probably guessedby now, our CD is running late.  Yep.  Don’t you worry though, it’s still coming out.  We’re securing the permission of the cover model now.  After that, it’s off to the pressing plant.  The first press will be limited to 100 copies.  After those are gone, we may redesign the package.  That means you will have a snazzy collectible in your greedy little mitts if you snap up the CD when it comes out.

As to when the next releases will be, we’re not sure.  Mazeffect is releasing a full CD so they’ll have to actually write some new stuff before we can release “Selling Doors…” so we’ll see.  Those dudes are pretty prolific, so they’ll probably have 11 new songs next week anyway.

Well, that’s that.  We’ll see you soon…

Rich

9/18/02
Well, finally, we are working on the cover for the album!  It should be done next week.  We finally bit the bullet and decided to release it ourselves.  We expect the discs to be in hand by the end of October.  In case you came into this party late, the title of this full-length release is Me, Myself & Your Mother.  It’s going to be a Short Run CD (SRCD), 12 songs, in a very “punk rock” package (cardboard sleeve) for a whopping 5 bucks ppd in the United States!  Gee whiz, what a deal!

Also slated for release in the near future are the following projects:

“Selling Doors, Door To Door” Short Run CD
Split CD with our pals Mazeffect.  There will be 5 Grover Kent songs, none of which appear on the full length and some new Mazeffect ditties for you to drool over.  I hope this is going to be out by December 2002.

“Running Out Of Ramones” SRCD single
4 song CD single of the song the Ergs are screaming about because they didn’t write it.  Sorta like me with “Pool Pass.”  Anyway, maybe January?

You may be asking, Rich, what the hell is a short run CD?  An SRCD (a term coined my Tim at Mutant Pop) is a CDR presented in a more professional way than the homemade demos that may bands give out.  In our case, it means a silver CD, professionally printed in a cardboard jacket (with artwork) and an insert.  The whole shebang is then shrinkwrapped so you, you little consumer you, can buy it.
You may also ask why we didn’t do a jewel case and color cover and all that crap.  Well, we’re frigging broke, that’s why.   So quityerbitchin, it’s a cheap way for us to get the album out, so there.

8/16/02

Well, we didn’t win a spot on the Ron and Fez-tival of Rock and Ribs (thanks, though,  to those who signed up and voted), but  our tune “Pussykat” was played on 102.7 Wednesday night, so that’s nice.  The Lawn Darts didn’t make it either, nor did Goin’ Places.  What can you do though?  Maybe we’ll have our own Rock and Ribs festival.  Or we’ll go to Big Ed’s and just eat ourselves silly.

We have a record out!  Well, it’s a four band comp from More East Records called “The Best Bands You’ve Never Heard In Your Life” and here’s the skinny

Mazeffect- “Flip Your Wig” (yep, the Husker Du song)
Grover Kent- “Caroline”
The ERGS!- “Saturday Nite Crap-O-Rama”
Rats Eyes Retired (at 21)- “Nervous Breakdown” (Yep, the black Flag song)

The first 100 of these are the special “Tour Edition” with an exclusive cover, and CLEAR VINYL
The next wave of 200 will be on GREEN VINYL, with the “standard cover”
The final wave is 200 on regular black vinyl with the standard cover for you dopes that were too slow to get the collectible ones (or if your like our old drummer, you’ll get all three because it’s different colors!)

You can get the tour edition at our forthcoming show at The Broadway Central Café on SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 7th.  We’re playing with Mazeffect, and the LawnDarts too.  We only have 30 copies of this 7” available, so if’n you want one, get on down to the show and throw down the ducats!

home, james....
